Ellah Makuba

Ellah Makuba is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wits.Counsel

In this role, Mr Makuba leads the management committee of the entire Management and Corporate Training Business Portfolio and also serves on the Supervisory Committee.

Earlier in his career, Mr Ellah worked with a number of firms in the financial services sector where he held a number of leadership positions. Mr Ellah began his professional career in 2007 as an Accounts and Finance Officer at IC Securities Limited, an Investment Banking, Asset Management & Private Equity firm based in Accra. He held this position for two years and then moved on to pick up a Business Development Role with Guarantee Trust Bank Ghana Limited. At GTBank, Mr Ellah spent most of his career years building experiences in winning new businesses for the bank and creating as well as maintaining valuable client relationships. During this period, Mr Ellah was rewarded for his hard work and performance by being elevated to the position of Branch Manager.

At Guarantee Trust Bank, Mr Ellah dealt extensively with Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) where he worked closely with consultants in the sector to introduce a number of banking initiatives such as enabling Credit Unions to be able to offer cheque clearing services to its members. It was also during this period that Money Transfer Services was enabled for Credit Unions as a service to be offered in its branch networks across the country.

Mr Ellah continued his banking career at the Head Office of GTBank where he became the Team Lead of the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Desk under the Financial Institutions Group after returning from a one year MBA program in the United Kingdom. He then moved to take up the role of Head of Commercial Banking at the Head Office of First Atlantic Bank Limited where he finally resigned.

Mr Ellah Makuba holds a BA (Hons) Accounting & Financial Management degree from the University of Sunderland in the UK, MBA from Paris Graduate School of Management, and a full-time MBA from Lancaster University Management School in Lancaster, UK.
